I don't plan to include all the features of these pro controllers, but wouldn't mind finding a useful subset, rather than inventing my own non-standard control language. So is there a standard control language I should be looking at as I develop the controller interface? I've glanced at documents from Tenny, Thermotron, etc, and it doesn't appear that they are particularly compatible. (actually, the ramp-up can be pretty fast) Now, I want to modify one of those "reptile incubators" that Dave featured, to give me similar remote control and monitoring with the ability to cool down to perhaps 10 C, and heat to about 50 C. ![]() command SCPI command string to be sent to the instrument. It's no good for thermal-shock testing, but slow ramps up and down are good enough for now. Initiates the adapter to open serial communcation over the supplied port. This gives me a temperature range from ambient up to whatever I set as the high end. So far I have modified my toaster-oven reflow controller to give me low-duty-cycle control, and feedback over a USB/serial link, and am using a simple ASCII command set. ![]() ![]() I want to build a thermal chamber for characterizing oscillators and for general product testing.
